Sonic the Hedgehog is a Sega Mega Drive/Genesis video game developed in 1991. Sonic the Hedgehog was an enormous critical and commercial success for Sega, creating a popular, multiple decade franchise, and propelling the Sega Genesis to widespread popularity. To me Sonic was the icon that represented Sega!
